Excursion tips

The favourite places of the familiy

Our family has summarized special insider tips about the Zillertal for you. We are happy to provide further recommendations at any time.

Martin Huber Senior recommends…

An absolute pleasure hike. Ascent with the Hintertux glacier cable car to Sommerberg, then hike to the Tuxerjochhaus and walk back to Hintertux via the Weitental valley passing the beautiful Schleier waterfall.

Veronika Huber recommends…

A musical walk back to the old Tyrol. By car/bus/e-bike to Ginzling until just before the toll station. Park at the Breitlahner car park and from there head towards the Klausenalm. The landlord plays traditional Zillertal folk songs on his accordion on request and treats his guests with unique, traditional delicacies.

Martin Huber Junior recommends…

An unforgettable family excursion to the Fichtensee and Fichtenschloß in Zell am Ziller. The Fichtenschloß in the Zillertal Arena ski area offers a marvelous mountain view and many leisure activities for young and old. There is a huge range of activities for children in particular - from the climbing tower, slide tower and observation tower to the treetop path, a wooden ball track and the spacious water and sand play area. Don‘t forget your bathing suits, because the Fichtensee is also a great place for swimming and pedal boating.

Bernhard Huber empfiehlt…

A leisurely hike with magnificent views and a culinary highlight. By car/bus/e-bike from Mayrhofen up to the reservoir in the Zillergrund. From there continue along a relaxing hiking trail to the Hohenau-Alm, also known among locals as Little Tibet. On the way home, you can stop off at the Adlerblick - one of the best restaurants for Zillertal specialities.

Kathrin Huber recommends…

Idyllic mountain tour with traditional cuisine. The tour starts directly from our front door, through the enchanting Scheulingwald forest to the Brandberg chapel. From there it continues over the Steinerkogel up to the Kolmhaus. This hut is well-known among locals and is characterized by its excellent cuisine (Kathrin‘s tip: Wiener Schnitzel). We also recommend the homemade cakes, which can be enjoyed on the beautiful panoramic terrace.

Sandra Huber recommends…

Petersköpfl - probably one of the most magical places in the Zillertal Alps. By car/bus/e-bike to the Schlegeis reservoir. From the Schlegeis car park, head uphill towards the Friesenberghaus. From there a small path leads to the Petersköpfl, a mountain hill covered with hundreds of cairns and surrounded by spectacular peaks.
