Family history

Initially still involved in their parents‘ businesses, the two decided to set up a mountain restaurant on the Penken in 1977. Even today, many guests who visit the Zillertal still talk about the unique „Vroni‘s Ski Alm“. It was Veronika‘s hospitality and Martin‘s lively and enthusiastic musical entertainment that made guests spend unforgettable hours there. Starting with 80 seats, it expanded continuously to 225 seats and 400 outdoor seats with an après-ski bar and barbecue station.

Vroni‘s Ski Alm was one of the first restaurants on the Penken and had a formative influence on the popularity and tourism in the Zillertal. Many innovative ideas came from these two personalities, who were simply born for gastronomy. For example, Veronika and Martin built the very first snow bar in the Zillertal and attracted many famous and economically important personalities - not least through music.

Martin taught himself to play music at the age of 9. Even today, he beams like a little boy when he plays his accordion. He has played for many well-known personalities such as Roberto Blanco, Toni Sailer, Leonhard Stock, Didi Mateschitz, Berni Ecclestone and Fran Williams, Willi Brandt, Alfons Goppel and Wolfgang Schüssel. Martin travelled halfway around the world with his band Zillertal Duo on behalf of Austria advertising and there was hardly a wedding in the Zillertal where he didn‘t play.

During these eventful years, 4 children were born: Martin Junior (*1967), Bernhard (*1971), Kathrin (*1980) and Sandra (*1985). This in turn resulted in 4 grandchildren (Theresa, Georg, Maximilian and Bernhard) and 3 greatgrandchildren (Matilda, Moritz and Zoe).

Thanks to the hard work on the Penken, our Landhaus Veronika was built in Mayrhofen in 1984 in a traditional and loving style. Starting with 10 flats and a sauna, a swimming pool and 2 more saunas were added in 2001. In 1999 apartment Ahorn, Zillertal and Grünberg were renovated and enlarged and in 2022 the elevator was finally built.
